The Big Tings Advisory Board is a collective of professionals, rangatahi, and whānau

who guide the kaupapa of Lalaga o le Vā and The Thread Event Series.

We ensure every Big Tings initiative remains culturally grounded, clinically safe, and community-led.

Our role within the weave

  • Provide cultural, clinical, and strategic guidance for all Big Tings projects.

  • Co-design and review frameworks, ensuring integrity and inclusivity.

  • Offer networks, mentorship, and professional support.

  • Help evaluate impact and amplify community voices.

Why We’re Looking

As Big Tings continues to grow, we’re building an Advisory Board to guide and strengthen the kaupapa behind Lalaga o le Vā and The Thread Event Series.

We’re looking for a diverse group of voices, from clinicians and strategists to rangatahi and whānau, who can help us ensure every Big Tings initiative is:

  • Culturally grounded in Pacific and Māori values,

  • Clinically safe and informed by best practice,

  • Strategically sustainable as we grow our impact, and

  • Community-led, reflecting the voices and lived experiences of our people.

Advisors play a vital role in shaping how Big Tings connects with schools, health services, and communities, helping us turn vision into action with integrity, care, and collaboration.

We’re not just seeking advisors, we’re building a village of wisdom to hold and guide this movement forward.

Your role within the weave

  • Quarterly hui (virtual or in-person)

  • Opportunities to co-design, review, and advise projects

  • Recognition letters / references for service

  • A village of like-minded changemakers supporting Big Tings’ growth

Who we are looking for

  • Youth (13-25) passionate about wellness & culture, who represent youth voices and lead creative co-design.

  • Māori and Pasifika knowledge holders, elders, artists, and cultural practitioners to ensure the kaupapa remains grounded in indigenous wisdom, cultural safety, and authenticity.

  • Parents, caregivers, community members who are able to ground our mahi in lived experience and everyday realities.

  • Clinicians, educators, service leads, community leaders, who bring professional insight, governance, and strategic thinking.

  • Business, marketing, or leadership professionals; funders; social entrepreneurs to support strategic planning, partnerships, sustainability, and long-term impact.

It takes many hands to weave a mat strong enough to hold our people. Bring your strand, bring your story, the vā is calling.
