Vā I Moana
e fa’āta ile lā
The Sacred Connections of wellness which are illuminated by the sun
In this framework, Vā I Moana represents the sacred spaces and relationships that exist within the vast moana (ocean) of your wellbeing. The subtitle, e fa’āta i le lā, speaks to the image of your inner sun, Fa’asinomaga, your identity, inner light, and guiding truth, shining across the waves, illuminating and nurturing each sacred connection, vā. When each vā is lit and cared for, your ocean flows in harmony, guiding you towards balance, connection, and a vibrant life.
The moana is your wellbeing, the vast, interconnected space that holds all your sacred vā. These vā are like waves: constant and guiding, yet their brightness depends on the light you shine on them. If one vā drifts into darkness, it does not disappear; it simply calls for more intentional light, love, and care to restore harmony.
While grounded in a Samoan worldview, these sacred connections are universal. Every culture has its own vā, ways of relating to self, others, the environment, and the spiritual. Vā I Moana invites everyone to explore and nurture their own, supporting them to acknowledge their light, helping them find their inner light, and allowing them to shine to their brightest ability, while recognising that each person’s interpretation will be unique.
